Prices are per vehicle in Thai baht and include fuel, tolls and the airport pick-up. The number of passengers does not change the price, only the car you need does.

What Kathu is like and what is nearby

Kathu is the inland district between Phuket Town and Patong, in the hills just before the road drops to Patong Beach. It has no beach of its own. People stay here for quieter evenings and ordinary local restaurants, and they ride over to Patong when they want the sea. The Kathu guide lists more of what to see.

Kathu Waterfall is a small cascade near Phuket Wake Park. Entry is free, and it looks best in the wetter months. Two golf courses sit in the district, Loch Palm Golf Club and Phuket Country Club. The area also has a mining past: tin brought Chinese miners, many of them from Fujian, to Phuket, and a small mining museum stands on the road past Loch Palm. Check that it is open before you go.

The 33 km drive from the airport to Kathu

The airport is at the northern tip of the island, so every trip south starts on Highway 402, Phuket's main north-south road. The driver passes the Heroines Monument roundabout in Thalang and crosses the hilly middle of the island. Kathu lies on the way to Patong, which means the first part of your ride is the same as a Patong transfer.

The 50 minutes are counted to Kathu itself. It is a long district, so a hotel on the far side from the highway can add a few minutes. Tell us exactly where you are staying and the driver will plan the final turns before you land.

How Kathu compares with the places around it

The sedan price is 999 THB to all four, so the choice comes down to where you want to sleep. Kathu is a good base if you are playing golf or working in the area and want Patong close but not outside your door. For nights on Bangla Road, see the Patong transfer.

Tips for your Kathu arrival

Kathu hotels and apartments tend to sit on small side roads, and similar street names are easy to mix up. Send the property name and a map pin when you book.

If you are travelling with golf clubs, count the bags as luggage. A sedan takes up to 3 passengers with luggage, and a set of clubs uses far more room than a suitcase, so a golf group is safer in an SUV / MPV (up to 4 passengers) or a minibus (up to 9). Mention the clubs in the booking so the right car comes.

Transfers run 24/7, and the driver follows your flight number, so a late landing does not cancel the pick-up. On arrival he waits at Gate 2 next to Exit 2 for international flights, or at Gate A for domestic ones. Fast Track is available at the airport on arrival if you want to skip the queue.
